Down the Rabbit hole- again
23 May, 2025
< BackLast night I felt hungry, I had a thought about pancakes…
“I wonder if I should make pancakes in the morning, they would be rather nice with bacon, and I am sure I have some syrup.
Oh, perhaps not. That does not seem like a healthy breakfast, but I have heard the media say it is delicious…
I wonder if it is unhealthier than cereal. Perhaps not, as that is high in sugar. But then, red processed meat is high in saturated fat and salt. It surely is not a healthy breakfast. Also, how would one have time to cook this each morning? …
I wonder if it is unhealthy. It is 11 pm and I really should get to sleep because I have a busy day studying tomorrow…
I must not look at my phone to work out the dietary analysis of pancakes with syrup and bacon compared to cereal. I really must not do that; it would be a waste of time. Especially as there are so many brands of cereal and some are ‘healthy’ options, I could not get a fair conclusion. I would have to research all types of cereal to get a fair comparison. Then there is streaky bacon and healthier bacon medallions. Then we have sugar-free syrup. So many variables.
I will control myself and not research it”
2 hours into the rabbit hole
“Oh, it is 1 am, for goodness sake, I have just spent 2 hours researching the health effects of bacon and pancakes, and multiple types of cereal. I did not even realise I was caught up in it..
Now I am exhausted and too hyped up to sleep. Why must I do these things? I did not even want to. At least I know porridge appears to be the healthiest breakfast, and bacon is not. There is always a silver lining. I will eat that every morning for the rest of my life. Its slow-release energy seems a winner—I will absolutely do this forever! In fact, I will order a 2kg bag now from Amazon!”
6 hours later, the alarm rings…
“Great, I am extremely tired. Why?
Oh yes, I stayed up until silly o’clock researching bacon. I am too tired to cook bacon, nor do I really care about its nutritional value. Nor do I particularly like porridge, in fact, I rather dislike porridge- that order can go to my friend then!”.
…. Eats granola with natural yoghurt, the same breakfast as every other day…
